Near or far, I always hope you’re well. This I guess is the closest thought I’ll have to a “Happy Fourth Year Anniversary to BeFit”.
Life was so much simpler when I was only doing personal training. I was able to write more, spend more time in the gym, get pumped up about lifting heavy and pushing sleds and that was it! Usually after an adrenaline filled workout I would sit on my laptop and write you an email.
Then I started learning about health NOT just fitness and started realizing there was a downside to every upside. Like over stretching can actually create a golgi neuro receptor dysfunction that creates weakness upon stimulation.
Lifting too much and GRINDING YOUR TEETH will make you stronger but lock your body down and cause you global tightness, most likely resulting in SHOULDER PAIN and a software reset is required in your body…… that is until the next time you grind your teeth enough to create the pattern again.
Or that working out hard almost every day can beat your lymphatic system up and not to mention your sympathetic nervous system. Once I knew I couldn’t continue doing things the old way, so I’ve changed quite a bit over the last four years.
Of the old caffeine drinking, loud music, fast talking, chest workouts at least twice a week Isaac the part I miss the most is the one that had time to write to you all the time.
It’s been four years since I opened the doors to BeFit and I can only say I’m humbled by everything I’ve seen, the ways people have helped me and the ways that I’ve been able to help people remind me of how blessed I am everyday.
But what inspired me?
What kept me pushing and when I failed, what stopped me from pushing?
It was the INCANTATIONS I ENCHANTED MYSELF WITH.
There’s no black magic here, we tell ourselves what we can and can’t do every single day whether it’s out loud or in our head’s.
For example, don’t go looking for the salt in your top cabinet thinking, “I don’t know where the salt is..I don’t know where the salt is”
It’ll be right in front of you but you’ll never find it.
These days I’ll be working on someone who’s had pain and they think it’s magic when I fix them. It’s not magic, there are RULES, some things I can fix and some I can’t, most of my time is spent studying RULES or LOCATIONS of where I’m at; when it comes to ENCHANTING yourself it’s the same. In order to reach your goal you have to ENCHANT yourself correctly.
Just like in Therapy, Enchanting yourself has rules. The first rule of ENCHANTING yourself to success is:
You have to focus on what you want and not what you DON’T want.
When I first opened my gym I focused on the feeling I wanted when someone walked through those doors and was amazed at the facility, the look on their faces when they learned things they’ve never heard about before that would help them get their bodies where they wanted to.
Many of those things didn’t happen for one or two years, the facility was a nightmare. We had 1,200 square feet of space with the other 1,200 full of garbage, so I had to focus on making the 1,200 I had, the landlord originally had said he would put a divider up but then went back on his word, every day I came to work and it hurt my heart to see that mess of garbage on the other side but I did the best I could and focused on the content, serving the amazing people with what we could provide. I ENCHANTED myself into being the person and creating around me exactly what I wanted to eventually feel when someone walked in to BeFit.
Check your thoughts, are you enchanting yourself with what you want or don’t want? Are you saying it loud enough and living it in your mind so much that you BECOME it. Is the line you’re saying full of “emotional juice”. Your spell must be powerful enough and you can truly live the life that you dream.
